The Okotoks Oilers get their training camp rolling this weekend at the Pason Centennial Arena.

Oilers Coach Tyler Deis says he's building the team from the net out this season.

"We've got really good defencemen coming in. Our goalies are really strong and we've got good forwards, but they're young. So, you know there's going to be some up's and down's. But we believe we've got a really strong team this year."

He says having that many young players up front can be kind of a double edged sword.

"They're fast, but they're going to go through some up's and down's and we'll be there helping them out, but we're expecting some pretty big things this year."

The Oilers rookies are already taking laps at conditioning camp this week.

The Oilers play their first pre-season game Tuesday, August 29 in Brooks against the Bandits.

The Oilers finished fourth in the AJHL's South Division last season with 78 points, but swept both Camrose and the Calgary Canucks in the first two rounds of the playoffs, before losing to Brooks in five games in the league final.
