The Okotoks Oilers evened up the AJHL South finals at one win apiece with a 6-3 victory over Brooks last night.

The league-leading Bandits had their way with the Oilers in the regular season, winning all six games and out-scoring Okotoks 27-8 in those match-ups. But so far, the Oilers have more than held their own in the playoff series. The Oilers head back to Pason Centennial Arena for games 3 and 4 this week.

Despite only scoring eight goals in their six regular season match-ups against the Bandits, the Oilers now have 11 goals through the first two games of the playoff series.

The Oilers never trailed in the game, taking their first lead at 2:35 of the first period with a goal from Quinn Olson, who sat for game one of the series because of a suspension.

The Bandits tied the game halfway through the first, but the Oilers took back the lead in the second with a goal from Kyle Gordon. The Bandits would tie the game 2:12 later, and the teams would take a 2-2 tie into the third.

But the final frame was nearly all Oilers. Austin Wong potted his fifth goal of the playoffs 17 seconds into the third, and the Oilers never looked back. They added two power-play goals a few minutes later from Kaleb Ergang and Dylan Holloway, and a sixth goal from Louis Jamernik with 6 minutes left to play sealed the deal for the Oilers.

Holloway's tally was his eighth of the post-season, giving him the scoring lead for the AJHL playoffs despite only playing seven games.

The Oilers will hope to continue their strong play against the Bandits when the series shifts to Okotoks this week. The puck will drop for game three at 7:00 p.m. Monday.
