The Highwood Mustangs girls rugby squad will strut their stuff for the hometown fans for the first time this year Wednesday, May 2, when they open the regular season against the Rundle College Cobras out of Calgary.

Coach Dave Roberts says his girls have two big things going for them heading into the season.

"A tremendous amount of speed and lots of experience. And we're just trying to engage that, get the ball wide where we can. That was really effective for us at our tournament this weekend in Calgary. We're really trying to play a high paced, fitness game this year. And so far it seems to be working."

The girls went 3-and-0 at a pre-season tournament in Calgary over the weekend.

They get things going at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Mustangs Field.
