It was a big night for high school football in Okotoks, as the Holy Trinity Academy Knights and the Foothills Composite Falcons battled for the Big Rock League title.

In the end, the game goes to the Knights 24-14.

Head coach for the Knights Matt Hassett says, the Knights played a clean game which helped lead the team to victory.

"Tonight we just thought if we could win the turnovers, stay disciplined and not take stupid penalties, we'd be good and I think we did both of those today."

Hassett attributes the Knights success to coordinated gameplay and forcing the Falcons to transition away from their solid running game.

"We worked really hard and we kinda got healthy at the right time. The defenses played great all year, we kinda threw down the challenge as they're a pretty heavy run team, they have great athletes. We just tried to play tighter with our safety and make them throw to beat us. We thought if we could do that and get a lead, make them throw more, it would play to our favor.

Hasset says it was a well fought game on both sides, but the Knights deserve to take a bow.

"The guys played great, the Falcons are a great team obviously with three straight provincial titles, but there's two teams in Okotoks and we are going to enjoy this for tonight and get back to work tomorrow."
