The Okotoks Dawgs will have a former big leaguer guiding them for at least the first few games of the season this year.

Jim Henderson will manage the Dawgs for the first three games of the season, while regular Managers, Tyler Graham and Andy Peterson guide their U.S. College team through the NCAA playoffs.

They're number one ranked Oregon State Beavers are off to Division One regional championships, necessitating their late return to Okotoks.

Henderson is a free agent after being cut loose by the Chicago Cubs back in March.

He spent three years as a reliever with the Milwaukee Brewers and another year with the New York Mets before signing with the World Series Champion Cubs in January of 2017.

Long time Dawgs Coach, Dave Robb, will help out Henderson, while former Calgary Viper, Joe Sergent will move over from the Dawgs Academy to take on the pitching coach duties.

The Dawgs open their season Friday, June 2, at home against the Medicine Hat Mavericks.
