A trio of Foothills football players are heading off to a big event in Arlington, Texas in the New Year.

The three, Peyton Burbank and High River's Keaton Neish play for the Foothills Falcons and Parker Nakamura who's a lineman with the Holy Trinity Academy Knights have been selected to play in the International Bowl at the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Burbank says the road to the International Bowl wasn't as long as one might expect.

"We tried out for the Alberta Summer Games football team, which we made. And from there they selected 38 players from all the teams, including us. So, that's a big accomplishment for us."

Nakamura says switching from three to four down football won't be a problem.

"Me and Peyton already went and played a selects team, where we went and played B.C. rules which is already four downs. So we already know how it goes a bit."

Team Alberta faces the U.S. U-16 Team January 17, 2017 at AT&T Stadium.
