The High River Flyers get their hockey season started this weekend as they open camp at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

G.M. Vince Miller says they're hoping to be able to practice a little more this year, in hopes of improving the teams fortunes.

"We've added another ice time during the week this season, to give us a little more of a leg up. Hopefully that'll help and help entice more players to come our direction. We were always challenged compared to other leagues, where the players are on the ice everyday. We're trying to sell it a little bit, by getting our guys out just a much."

Miller says they'll hold their registration this Saturday, August 26 at 2 o'clock at the Rec-Plex and then on the ice at 3:30 p.m.

He says they'll do it again on Sunday and the following weekend.

The Flyers head to Airdrie for their first pre-season game on Friday, September 8.
