Nanton saddle bronc rider Clay Elliot is gearing up for the National Finals Rodeo starting Thursday, December 6, in Las Vegas.

He says he's looking forward to meeting up with some of the same cowboys he went head to head against at the CFR in Red Deer.

"It's going to be a fun little adventure. I go down to the NFR where me and Zeke (Thurston) and Cass (Curtis Cassidy) can battle it out, so I'm quite excited."

Elliot is the only local competing in the NFR this year, but there are other Alberta cowboys taking part including, Curtis Cassidy from Donalda, Big Valley's Zeke Thurston and Scott Guenther from Provost

The NFR runs until Sunday, December 16.
