Fans didn't even shudder as the thunder and lightening rolled through town, causing a big delay in the Canada Day Dawgs game.

The players didn't let the weather get them down, they were out to please a crowd of nearly 5000 people.

The Okotoks Dawgs won their fourth straight Canada Day game, even against the reigning champs the Swift Current 57's.

In a short seven inning game the Dawgs managed a  9-1 victory thanks to an incredible pitching effort and offensive strike from the batters.

Pitcher Anthony Balderas, went seven innings pitching nearly perfect. The Lewis-Clark product struck out 8 batters, didn't give any balls up, while limiting the (14-9) Swift Current 57’s to just four hits.

At one point, Balderas retired eleven straight batters.

On the offense Greg Cullen, Jayse McLean, and Matt Lloyd had 6 hits and 6  RBI's in a combination effort.

In the 3rd Inning Cullen sent a ball following the right field line for 2 runs, boosting the Dawgs 1-0.

Second to bat, Jayse McLean challenged his first hit and the ball flew right over the wall in centre field for 3 runs.

That homer was McLean's 2nd blast in the past 3 games, and his 5th home run this season.

Fans then gathered in the stadium, abuzz from the victory to revel in the glow of the Town's fireworks presentation.

All in all, a successful Canada Day finish.
