With only a few periods left to go in the 2017-18 Heritage Junior Hockey League (HJHL) season, Foothills rivals went head-to-head last night (Fri Feb 2) in High River battling for any last remaining points.

The home team Flyers were defeated by the Okotoks Bisons 4 to 2 at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

The Bisons controlled play throughout the better part of the game, scoring four unanswered goals before Flyers' Jakob Jefferies and Josh Younker put a pair away in a late-game attempt to salvage the evening.

Despite their best efforts, the Bisons held onto the lead and, in the end, the two points.

The Flyers remain in fourth place in the HJHL Southern Division with 37 points while the Bisons are in first with 46, just 9 points behind the league leading Red Deer Vipers.

Both teams have two games remaining.

High River plays tonight in Cochrane at 7:30 p.m. before they host Coaldale on Feb. 9 for their final game of the season.

The Bisons are away tonight taking on the Copperheads at 8:30 p.m.  They will finish their season at home against the Medicine Hat Cubs on Feb. 11.
