The High River Flyers play their final two games of 2018 this weekend when they host the Medicine Hat Cubs Friday, December 14, and then head to Cochrane Saturday, December 15, to face the Generals.

They're in a dogfight with the Cubs for fourth in the Heritage Junior "B" Hockey League's South Division, and Coach Colten Hayes says they'd like to put some more daylight between themselves and the Cubs with a win Friday night.

"They keep winning, so we've got to get a little bit of breathing room here, I told the guys. We had a good game against them last week in Medicine Hat (a 6-5 overtime win). They're a good hockey team though and a lot of teams are taking them lightly because of their record from last year, but we've just got to worry about ourselves."

They hit the ice at 8 o'clock at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

Also on tap Friday night, the Okotoks Bisons are home to the Coaldale Copperheads, starting at 8 o'clock at the Murray Arena.

This is a big game for the Bisons as they're six points back of the first place Copperheads and would like to narrow the gap before heading into the Christmas break.

The Bisons are in Blackfalds Sunday to face the Wranglers before wrapping up their 2018 in Stettler, Friday December 21, against the Lightning.
