Freedom of the City Ceremony and Little Britches Parade in High River

More than 80 Royal Canadian Air Cadets and officers will parade through the streets of High River to the steps of the Town Hall at 9:00 am on May 20th to be granted a once in a lifetime honour - the "Freedom of the City".

The ceremony, dating back to ancient Rome, recognizes outstanding service by a military unit to a community and is being performed to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the formation of 187 Foothills, Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. This national youth development organization has served the communities of High River, Okotoks, Nanton and surrounding areas since 1942 and is based at the High River Regional Airport.

Following the ceremony, 187 Squadron will take its place at the head of the 58th annual Little Britches Parade as this year's honoured community organization and will escort the Parade Marshal, Foothills MP John Barlow, through the parade route.

When: Saturday, May 20th, 2017 at 9:00 am (prior to the Little Britches Parade)
Where: High River Town Hall, 309 Macleod Trail SW, High River, AB
Who: Mayor Craig Snodgrass will perform the ceremony and Member of Parliament for Foothills, John Barlow will be in attendance.
