The deadline to prune your elm trees is quickly approaching.

This Easter Sunday, March 31, is the hard deadline to have your elm trees pruned.

The Town of High River sent out a media release last week reminding everyone to have their trees done because you'll have to wait until October to trim them.

The reason for the strict timelines is that Alberta has one of the world's largest populations of disease-free elm trees and they want to keep the Elm bark beetles (EBB) from infesting our elms.

The ban runs from April 1 to September 30.

The Town of High River has some tips on their Trees and Natural Spaces page on their website.
