If you're looking to get your hands on a rapid testing kit, you're not alone.

They were first made available in Dec. 2021, but people have had trouble tracking them down.

While hundreds of Alberta pharmacies are carrying them, they're all located in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

For everyone else, the only local places carrying free testing kits are AHS testing clinics.

Okotoks' testing clinic is located at Unit 201, 200 Southridge Drive (near the Tim Hortons,) and High River's is at the High River Community Health Centre (310 Macleod Trail SW.)

Each kit contains five tests, and people are asked to grab only as many as they'll need for each member of their household.

They're being given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Okotoks clinic ran out of testing kits on Monday afternoon and were told they'd be getting a new shipment soon, though they were provided with no specific day or time.

They open at 9:30 a.m. on weekdays, though they've been giving kits out as early as 9.

If you're willing to commute into the city, a map of pharmacies carrying the testing kits can be found on the provincial government's website.

It should be noted that these tests are intended for home use and cannot be used for the Restrictions Exemption Program. Unvaccinated individuals will need a negative test from a private vendor or a pharmacy.
