There's a bit of a hiccup in the funding for the Okotoks-Foothills County water pipeline project.

The county's Reeve Delilah Miller says there's been an unexpected hitch.

"We applied together for Water for Life grant funding which requires two municipalities to partner together, however, Okotoks received the full $16 million from the province for grant funding and the Foothills is receiving no grant funding."

"So, we have been speaking with the minister of transportation to see if we can get that corrected because we are a partner, we are a viable partner and we need to be made whole on this."

Okotoks was supposed to receive $16 million and the county between four and five million.

Miller says the money is portioned out according to the size of the project and Okotoks is making a larger contribution than Foothills County, which is why they're receiving so much more.

Approval of the project was announced in July of this year.
