Now is the time to be on the lookout for herbicide resistant weeds.

Angela Brackenreed, agronomy specialist with the Canola Council of Canada, says producers should check target areas in their fields within 7 to 14 days of spraying to see if they're still green.

She notes glyphosate resistant weeds are not extremely wide spread in Manitoba, but they can be found.

"The reality is we'll probably find more the harder we look. We know that there is Kochia that's glyphosate resistant now and just by the nature of Kochia and how much seed it produces and how easily it moves and rolls."

Brackenreed says that crop variety is the key to controlling herbicide resistant weeds.

She suggests adding crops such as winter wheat to the rotation to stagger the time of emergence.
