An investigation into a shoplifting incident has led to thousands of dollars of stolen property being recovered and two arrests, including a Vulcan man.

On Dec. 23, Olds RCMP were called to a business after a reported shoplifting incident.

As officers made their way to the scene, they received an update saying one suspect had fled in a vehicle while the other remained in the store. 

The vehicle's license plate was determined to have been stolen, and officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and the other suspect was detained while exiting the store.

Officers searched the vehicle and recovered the following:

  • A large quantity of products determined stolen from multiple businesses totalling approximately $7,000
  • A stolen licence plate
  • Stolen driver licence
  • Multiple folding knives
  • Approximately 10g of suspected Methamphetamine

Both suspects are now facing charges.

The suspect who fled the scene, 32-year-old Brandon Ross Keller of Vulcan, is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5,000 (x2)
  • Theft over $5000 – Shoplifting
  • Fail to comply

The other suspect, 19-year-old Paige Ashlee of Cochrane, is charged with:

  • Theft over $5000 – Shoplifting
  • Possession of a controlled substance

They were both released and are set to appear in court in Disbury on Feb. 26, 2024.
