The Okotoks Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) is looking for around 60 volunteers for two upcoming tournaments.

Okotoks will be hosting the Telus and Esso cups from May 16-22.

OMHA President Geoff Stewart is feeling the hype and knows he's not the only one.

"People in Okotoks, they love their hockey, that's for sure. That fact that it's going to be in our backyard here... It just kind of floored us that we have the opportunity to host not just one of them, but both of them. This never happens. It's an exciting time for our community and we'll be able to watch some really high calibre hockey, your next generation."

The announcement came in mid-April, leaving the organization with much less time than they'd usually have to prepare.

Stewart says they'll need volunteers for all sorts of roles.

"From the score clock to opening the doors in the penalty box, to helping out with the regular day-to-day activities like laundry and snacks for the team. They have that all organized, it's just having people help us coordinate it. Also, because a lot of the teams will have to stay in Calgary, there are shuttle services with vehicles supplied by GMC."

He estimates they'll need about 16 volunteers for day-to-day activities, 20 for on-ice duties, 25 drivers, and some bilingual volunteers for announcing in English and French.
