The volunteer fair in High River on Wednesday night went off without a hitch.

The event 'Heart of High River' was hosted by the Highwood Centre and brought out quite a few people, even during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

One of the directors of the Highwood Memorial Society, Tim Whitford says, for their first time hosting a volunteer fair, it went great.

"We had over 50 members of the public and we had excellent feedback from every table I talked to. We had people stop and ask questions and a lot of them signed up volunteers."

There were 22 different organizations that set up tables to welcome people and share what they do.

"You know, get out and volunteer. There's a lot of things that go on in the community that rely on volunteers. We've got our parades, we've got our rodeos, we've got all our kids sports, hospital foundations. It all takes volunteers so get engaged.

The Highwood Centre is planning on doing it again next year.
