At their meeting last night, Okotoks Town Council revealed the launch date for the long awaited on-demand transit service.

In a report to council, CAO Elaine Vincent announced that the service would be introduced on December 2nd, 2019.

At launch, the curb-to-curb service will run Monday-Saturday from 6am-11:30pm, operating within the boundaries set by the town.

Each ride will cost $2.75, with the option to purchase a book of ten tickets for $24.75.

Bookings can made via app, as well as online or over the phone.

Southland Transportation, who have been contracted to operate the service for a two year period, are currently in the final stages of contract signing.

Residents will get a few chances to take a look at the vehicles (eight-seater Ford transit vans) on a few occasions in November, where they will be on display at a number of town events, including Light Up Okotoks.

The town will provide monthly updates following the launch of the service.
