The Town of Okotoks is thrilled with improvements made in water consumption this summer.

Last year's extreme dry conditions resulted in high outdoor water usage which lead to a complete watering ban.

Chris Radford, Operations and Infrastructure Director for the Town of Okotoks, says they have been hard at work with EPCOR to make changes.

"We've been able to work with EPCOR water services and with some small efficiencies and some pumping improvements we've been able to improve the overall production within the water system this year by about over one thousand cubic metres per day which is really significant."

Radford says the numbers have significantly improved on higher consumption days as well.

"Our peak demand days are around 13,500 cubic metres where were over 15,000 last year."

Aside from the work with EPCOR, Radford also attributes the improvements to residents compliance with the new outdoor watering schedule.

Information on the watering schedule can be found here.
