Three young girls 13-year-old Catie, and Dara and Jana, both 11 years of age were killed in an accident while loading grain at a family farm near Withrow, Alberta.

The farm is located approximately 15 kilometres east of Rocky Mountain House.

RCMP say the three young sisters were playing on a grain truck loaded with canola when they were buried in the grain.

Adults at the farm were able to free the children from the grain and began CPR.

Emergency Medical Personnel continued CPR but were not able to revive one 13-year-old and her 11-year-old sister, who were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Their 11-year- old sister was taken to hospital via Stars but she succumbed to her injuries at 3:18 this morning.

The RCMP and the Office of the Medical Examiner are investigating these deaths..

The RCMP expresses its deepest condolences to the family and the local community, and is committed to providing them with the Victim Service support they may require in the aftermath of these sudden deaths.

“This is hitting all of us very hard,” said Rocky Mountain House RCMP Sgt. Mike Numan. "Frontline responders are routinely called out to sad situations, but things are always harder for everyone when kids are involved."

The family, who asked that their last name not be released, said the girls died living life on the farm and they do not regret raising and involving their kids  on the farm.
