As another WMBL season has come and gone for the Okotoks Dawgs, the quest for a fifth league championship is still on Manager Brett Thomas' mind as he says good-bye to players and fans after the Dawgs' dropped their first round playoff match-up against Medicine Hat this week.

The former Dawgs catcher was part of the team's three titles in a row from 2007 to 2009. In his second year as the man in charge of the Dawgs dugout he was able to guide his team to a second place finish in a very competitive Alberta Division at 29-19.

Thomas could be happier for a team that started slow out of the gate at 3-9.

"Very proud," he says. "Unfortunately our results weren't exactly what we were looking for, we obviously are always looking to win championships here in Okotoks, but a tough group of guys they played hard all year."

The Dawgs had five players make the WMBL All-star team. Pitchers Dylan Nelson and Trevor Swaney, both winning seven games this year. Outfielder Daniel Fredrickson, 1st basemen Brendan Hendriks and 2nd basemen Brian Sisler rounded out the Dawgs all-stars nods.

Thomas acknowledged the great talent he was able to see on the field every night.

"We were fortunate with the guys we got because the character they had, obviously the ability. Five team all-stars, it doesn't get much better than that."

Thomas says for the entire 2015 Dawgs, it was quite the group to work with everyday.

"They played with heart and cared about each other," he says. "It was something that I just can't say enough about how they play the game, obviously we made mistakes in this series (Medicine Hat) but it wasn't for a lack of effort that's for sure."

Thomas will return to his home state of California for the WMBL off-season, where he has his own catcher's academy and is an assistant coach at The College of San Matteo.

As for the future of Thomas at Seaman Stadium, the Dawgs faithful can only wait and see if they'll number three back in the dugout.
