There was another drowning in the Rockies over the weekend.

This time it happened in the Jasper National Park.

Jasper RCMP responded to call they received in the early morning hours on Sunday July 24.

The call came in at 1:25 a.m. from Parks Canada letting them know they were looking for an overdue kayaker in the area of Sunwapta Falls.

Sunwapta Falls is just over 50 kilometres south of the town of Jasper.

The kayaker, a 39-year-old man was due to arrive at the Sunwapta Resort at 8:00 p.m. however he didn't arrive at his designated pickup point.

Parks Canada Visitor Safety found the abandoned kayak and further downstream they came upon the body of the 39-year-old.
