2015 was big year for music, weather, sports, news, and politics in the Foothills.

It was tough, but we narrowed it down to top news makers on Okotoks Online over the past 365 days.

Here are the year's top videos:

January: The Calgary Flames visit High River

It was a big deal for local minor hockey players as they played a few games with the Calgary Flames during the town's winter carnival on Jan. 30. Following some games on the ice, the Flames sat down and signed autographs on everything from hats to jerseys.

February: Danielle Smith answers why she crossed the floor

2015 was a big year for politics in the Foothills. Highwood MLA Danielle Smith switched sides to play for the PCs, only to lose the nomination to Okotoks councillor Carrie Fischer, who in turn lost the vote to the Wildrose's Wayne Anderson. Smith's move was highly controversial and she explains why she made it in this video.

March: Irish Dance is celebrated for St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is a worldwide event where everyone dresses in green and celebrates Irish culture. The Bhriomhar School of Irish Dance dances up a storm on St. Patrick's Day and stopped by to show us what they can do.

April: Can the graffiti problem be fixed?

With graffiti becoming a problem more and more often in Okotoks, a young girl named Anna Quick came up with an interesting idea to combat the issue.

May: Fire destroys historic building

On May. 8, a fire caused by arson destroyed a building that housed three businesses and was originally the old creamery building in downtown Okotoks. The suspected arsonist has yet to be found.

June: Hail and rain storm damages property

Southern Alberta is known for its crazy weather, regardless of what month it is. On June 16 a storm rocked the Foothills and caused damage to property. The storm lasted less than 20 minutes.

July: Samm Smith prepares for The Voice with...The Voice?

Okotoks resident Samm Smith had made enough waves to be accepted to sing on the hit show The Voice, but before she could do the real thing, we made her sing for us in the Okotoks version.

August: Welcome back, students!

Teachers and staff at Foothills Composite High School/Alberta High School of Fine Arts welcomed back students for another year with a little help from The White Stripes.

September: There are a number of things to do in Okotoks

And then this happened. It all started with a picture of an ad on the side of a CTrain in Calgary, which proceeded to go viral nationally and spawn a bunch of controversy. Is all press good press? 

So, we decided to bank in on all of the buzz, and talk about these so-called "number of things to do."

October: Thriller flash mob takes over Okotoks

What goes better together than Halloween and Thriller? How about a flash mob in the middle of an Okotoks neighbourhood?

November: The Avenue of Trees kicks off

The Sheep River Health trust kicked off its annual Avenue of Trees event, where more than 40 businesses took part and decorated trees to be auctioned off. The event raised thousands of dollars for the organization to support youth and health programs in the Foothills.

December: Hundreds protest Bill 6

Bill 6, the Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act, was heavily protested by farmers across the province. The government received backlash for lack of consultation and misinformation.
