Weigel strongly urges residents to stay away from the Sheep River as banks are unstable and the water is quickly rising and flowing extremely fast.

Okotoks town staff are to thank for containing the low level flooding experienced last night says Weigel.

She says staff worked through the night.

Right now, Weigel adds, volunteers are not needed.

Weigel says residents adjacent to the Sheep River, in the South Railway and Riverside areas, should continue to take appropriate precautionary measures.

Pathways and parks along the Sheep River are closed due to overnight flooding says Okotoks' town officials.

Weigel says the affected areas have been evacuated.

Weigel reminds residents to ensure their eavestrophes are clear and down spouts are in good working order
