A dicey Labour Day long weekend that saw snowfall in some parts of the province may give the impression we've seen the end of summer heat in the Foothills.

Jesse Wagar, lead Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says we aren't likely to see a repeat the weekend's frigid temperatures, at least for a little while.

"I'd say we're in the clear for a little bit now. The coldest air is moving off to the South and East parts of the country now, so while overnight lows have been a bit cool, temperatures are forecast to return to normal to above-normal for the remainder of this week."

She says while nights are getting colder, they won't be quite as cold as Monday night.

"It looks like overnight lows will return to more normal temperatures, between five to seven degrees instead of closer to zero. For the most part, the coldest overnight lows we've seen in the last few days are over for now."

As far as genuine summer heat, Wagar says we'll be treated to some warmth one or two days this week.

"Thursday and Sunday are looking particularly warm, with daytime highs expected to be in the mid to upper 20's, so I'd say summer is not quite finished with us yet."
