The Last of Us is officially getting a second season.

HBO made the announcement this morning, with only two of the first season's ten episodes having aired so far.

The show, based on the 2013 video game, premiered on Jan. 15, 2023, to nearly 5 million viewers.

Season 2 would likely be based on the game's 2020 sequel, The Last of Us Part II.

The sequel game is set four years after the first, though there's currently no info on when the second season would go into production or when it's planned to air.

The show has become a point of pride for Albertans, with the show having been filmed across several towns and cities in Southern Alberta.

Whether or not the production of season two would happen in Alberta remains to be seen.
