The Ice Never Forgets, and Neither Will We

Thousands of people gathered in Humboldt Sunday night to remember the fallen.
A public vigil was held at the Humbolt Uniplex in memory of the 15 who died in the Humboldt Bronco bus crash this past Friday night.  The service was presented by the Humboldt Ministerial Association.

The Ice Remembers When:

Though the world may not know you, they will pray for you today
They will know that you existed because you truly loved this game
Because you gave your all for that emblem sown upon your chest
The love of all your teammates for they pushed you to be the best
You played for all your family and made them proud to call you son
You played for all the fans who came to watch you get it done
You truly made them smile and they will all remember you
The person behind that jersey was more than just his number too
You were all important members of the families from which you came
You meant a lot to those who knew you, more than any hockey game
Your passion and dedication both in life and in this sport
Is why you had so many people to lean on for support
And though they are hurt and lost in grief to never see you again
They can look back on the days gone by and know the ice remembers when
Your first falls, your first goals, your first steps and first words
Your laughter and your joy inside their memories forever burned.
You will never be forgotten and you will always be truly missed
By all of those who loved you and should always remember this
That though life took you all far too soon, their family and their friends
They can step inside that arena once more and feel you, because the ice remembers when
