High River's Jason Glass actually helped out Okotoks Mark Sutherland at Friday night's Rangeland Derby.

Sutherland had the 13th fastest time of the night, which was good enough to get him into the top eight, edging out Luke Tournier by just 8/100ths of a second.

Glass, who ran a time that would have put him back into the final eight, knocking Sutherland out, took a five second penalty after knocking a barrel, which in turn pushed Sutherland into the final eight heading into Semi-Final Saturday.

High River's Jordie Fike, who had some bad luck with penalties over the week, is 13th in the aggregate and will be racing for day money the next couple of nights.

In addition to Mark Sutherland, Kurt Bensmiller, Mike Vigen, Jamie Laboucane, Kelly Sutherland, Gary Gorst, Vern Nolin and Logan Gorst round out the top eight.

They'll all race in the final two heats  Saturday night, with the top four wagons making their way to Sunday night's $100,0000, winner take all, "Dash for Cash."
