A Christmas tradition has returned to the Foothills.

Spruce Meadows' Christmas Market is back after a year off.

They didn't host one last year due to COVID, instead offering a complimentary drive-through Christmas light experience.

Vice President of special events services, Stavroula Kangles, says this year's market will feel a little different, with some COVID protocols still in place.

"It's a bit smaller this year than in previous years and then two weekends instead of three. We're trying to make sure we're respecting that there is a pandemic going on."

Neither the Riding Hall nor the Founders Plaza will be a part of the market this year, though the Equi-Plex its stage will.

Tickets also need to be bought in advance, and won't be available at the gates.

Still, they've been working to make it feel like the Christmas market experience people are used to from previous years.

They've got some entertainment planned, with roaming carolers, two miniature horses to meet called Ricky and Bobby (though no reindeer this year,) and three movies being played in their outdoor courtyard.

They'll be requiring proof of double vaccination for entry, being registered as an event space rather than a retail space.

The market kicked off this weekend and runs next weekend as well.
