Its springtime in the Rockies and its hard to imagine thinking about our lawns when they get covered in snow, but experts say if you want a nice one... you have to start early.

Okotoks landscaper Jim Charbonneau says its a little early yet, with this years high snowfall so we'll have to wait for things to dry out a little more but then we can get right to work.



You can "de-thatch" your lawn by using a rake to remove old grass allowing moisture and oxygen to get to the roots and if green is your thing you can use a high in Nitrogen fertilizer.

The Town of Okotoks currently doesn't have a bylaw against fertilizers however they do advise using organic and not using any near water ways.
