Thanks to a Calgary man and his son an 83-year-old man was rescued.

On Friday June 25th at approximately 7:00 p.m. Claresholm RCMP were notified that a 40-year-old man and his 11-year-old son came upon an elderly man in the Porcupine Hills in Southern Alberta that appeared confused and disorientated.

The man and his son were on their ATV and moved to seek higher ground so they could use their cellphone to call for help.

Multiple agencies got involved in the search including the Claresholm RCMP, Fort Macleod RCMP, Willow Creek Emergency Services, Alberta Health Services, Fish and Wildlife and RCMP Police Dog Services from Lethbridge also attended the scene.

It was discovered the 83 year old man was from Crowsnest Pass and at 9:20 p.m. using ATV's, the Willow Creek Emergency Services while being assisted by the 40-year-old Calgarian located the man and transported him out of the area to an ambulance.

He was assessed, released and transported back to his family.

Upon further investigation it was revealed the missing man had been lost for about 8 hours with his truck becoming stuck somewhere in the area.

Authorities are still looking for the truck in the Porcupine Hills. 

It's a dark blue 2010 Ford Ranger with Alberta licence plate BZT-4787 and it's believed to be in the areas of East Trout Creek/Lydon Creek.
