The tragedy on the ground in Ukraine is unimaginable for many of us.

For Samaritan's Purse's Frank King, it's another area of the world to do what the organization does best, bring relief.

"It's definitely the largest sort of international response we're doing right now, we have more than 100 people, including a significant number of Canadians, on the ground in Moldova and Poland to help refugees that are coming across the border from Ukraine," King says.

"In addition, we're setting up a fairly large emergency field hospital in Ukraine near the town of Lviv and we're also assessing where we can put an out-patient clinic for everyone who's been hurt or has medical needs when they come across the border and for those who are in Ukraine and need help away from the fighting because that's where we're going to set up this field hospital."

King says Samaritan's Purse has a lot of experience setting up emergency hospital faculties.

It did so in Cremona Italy during the first days of COVID and they had one in Mosul when the Iraqi government was fighting ISIS for control of the city.

He's grateful that Canadians have donated to allow them to do this work, which he expects is going to be needed for weeks or months to come.
