The Rotary Club of Okotoks recently delivered a pretty sizable cheque.

This donation was from their recent Robbie Burns Dinner and Dance held in January and considering this was the first in several years, they did pretty well.

They ended up donating $32,221 to the Rowan House Society.

Past President Jeff Foss says they aimed high and hit the mark.

“We had an audacious goal, and everyone came together to make it happen… We had hoped to gross somewhere in the neighborhood of $50,000 and net out approximately where we did. We had lots of help keeping our costs in line, lots of sponsorships in line to make that happen.”

Another $4,693 was raised on the night.

“People also picked items off of the tree of life. Those were funds that went directly to Rowan House during the event. You could pick a thing off the tree; it might be clothing with a dollar value attached so you could donate directly at the event.”

The Okotoks Rotary Club isn’t about to slow down, but for now, Foss is just glad they were able to bring back an annual event to such success.

“Probably the biggest event we’ve held in town, to my knowledge, for quite some time. Post-COVID for sure.”
