As the weekend approaches, residents are encouraged to enjoy the warmest day of the week tomorrow, as temperatures will cool off next week.

Fyle Fougere, Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says we'll see warmer temperatures for the remainder of today and tomorrow.

"We're expecting a warm up today with a high of plus nine, which is a little bit above average. Normally, at this time of year, we have a daytime high of plus six and an overnight low of minus five. Tomorrow is expected to be the warmest day of the next week at plus 14, which is great when it lines up with a Saturday," he said.

Fougere says we can expect things to cool off into next week, which could come with some precipitation.

"You can expect temperatures to get back more to normal for this time of year. Highs of four to six for most of the week. It also looks like there's going to be a chance of precipitation in the area on Sunday into Monday, and then again on Wednesday into Thursday. It looks as though it will probably start as a mix of rain and snow, then probably turn to snow," he said.

Fougere adds high and low pressure systems paired with warmer and colder temperature fluctuations are normal at this time of year in Alberta.

He says the warmer day temperatures mixed with the cooler overnight temperatures tend to produce heavy amounts of fog, as well.
