Seniors in care homes across the province have suffered the most from COVID-19.

Both as the hardest hit group when it comes to deaths, and having to deal with isolation and loneliness at a time when they're at their most vulnerable.

Livingstone-Macleod MLA Roger Reid, says he's been hearing from a growing number of anguished constituents, who want a way to visit their loved ones in person.

"When we look at couples that have been married for 60 or 70 years, who now are separated and not able to spend time with each other. We're looking at the compassion for seniors who are nearing the end of their lives and being able to spend time with family and looking to challenge the government to find ways to make that happen."

Reid says he's well aware it's a double edged sword during a pandemic.

"We are looking at societies most vulnerable and the need to keep them safe. But they're also the one's that will suffer the most from that isolation and benefit the most from that personal contact."

Reid says he's working closely with both the Health and Seniors Ministers to come up solutions that will keep everyone safe, but allow the personal contact so badly needed.
