Alberta's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced the first death due to COVID-19 in the province.

The individual was a male in his 60's with underlying medial conditions.

Dr. Hinshaw also announced 27 new cases, bringing the provincial total up to 146.

Eight of those are believed to have been the result of community transition.

She was also asked if any Albertans have recovered thus far, to which Dr. Hinshaw said she is aware of two, and plans to make those numbers available online soon.
