During today's COVID-19 update, 98 new cases were announced, bringing the total to 1348.

An additional death was announced, bringing the total to 28.

The latest fatality was a woman in her 80's in the Calgary zone. Hers was the 11th death at the McKenzie Town Long Term Care Facility.

Recoveries in the province are nearing 300.

Premier Jason Kenney provided an update on the recently launched "Bits and Pieces" program, revealing that over 3000 offers have flooded in since its announcement.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw also appeared to provide clarification on the use of face masks, as well as an update on testing in the province.

Testing priorities have been expanded to include individuals with shortness of breath, runny nose, cough, fever, or sore throat who work as first responders, group home/shelter workers, provincial correctional staff, and those involved on COVID-19 enforcement.

Additionally, starting tomorrow, eligibility will be expanded to anyone over 65 years old with fever, cough, shortness, of breath, runny nose, or sore throat.

Minister of Labour and Immigration Jason Copping also announced some temporary changes employment standards legislation.

Employees affected by closures to school and daycare closing, or caring for someone in self-isolation now have access to unpaid job-protected leave. The 90-day employment requirement has been waived.

Additionally, the maximum time for temporary layoffs have been extended from 90 days to 120.

The 24-hour written notice requirement for shift changes and the two weeks' notice for schedule changes have been removed.
