As the Okotoks BMX Club is set to open their brand new track in the coming days, they'll also be bringing back a successful event that will hopefully become an annual tradition.

For the second straight year, the club's golf tournament will be held at D'Arcy Ranch Golf and Country Club on Sep. 21 and they're expecting another sellout.

Club Director Sandy Fokkens says the tournament goes hand in hand with those who helped fundraise and help build their track, and the tournament is a way for the club to say thanks to it's supporters and also help a local charity with their tournament proceeds.

"We've got quite a bit of contribution from the local community as well we're donating a portion of the funds from the day as we'll give 25 percent is going directly to Kidsport," she says.

Fokken says it's important to give back to a special charity close to them.

"We were able to give them $7500 dollars last year," she says. "So that was really good to help in the local community with kids that aren't able to participate in organized sports."

Fokkens says the golf tournament isn't your usual tournament, as it has more of the fun element than the competition side to it.

"It is, you know, more of a fun factor than a serious tournament," she says. "So you know all its open to all beginners, everybody who wants to have a good time and we've geared it towards the sports side to it. We've hopefully got some sports celebrities coming in as well."

There's still room to enter into the tournament as Fokkens says they're about 70 per cent filled.
