A police incident in Okotoks Village has been resolved.

Okotoks RCMP received a call of an active shooter just before 1 p.m.

Members were soon on the scene, and established a wide perimeter around the area, calling for assistance from Police Dog services as well as EMS.

Police learned that the victim had been shot by a BB gun rather than an actual firearm, and spoke with the shooter who is now in custody with charges pending.

According to an RCMP release, two men had gotten into an argument, and one man shot the other in the chest with the BB gun.

The victim was bleeding but didn't sustain any major injuries.

Police will remain in the area as the investigation continues, and are asking people to avoid the area for the time being.

RCMP will be releasing more information soon.
