The High River carnival was really busy over the weekend despite the rain.

It's estimated 1,500 people attended the three-day event at the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex.

Special events coordinator for the Town, Heather Ross, said the rain didn't seem to affect the kids.

"Absolutely, yes we had a great turnout, even Friday... you know what, there were some spirits that weren't even dampened by a little bit of rain, they were still riding the rides and enjoying themselves."

The well-attended event even had the town's mascot, Riley the Horse, come out and play 'pluck-a-duck' with some kids.

And as far as the Town of High River bringing back Wild Rose Carnival next year...

"They are. I spoke with the ownership team of Wild Rose and they're going to look at some dates and we're going to see what we can do about bringing them back next year."
