Open Farm Days is back again August 15 and 16, but there'll be some changes as you might expect.

Nicola Doherty says there are certain public health guideline that have to be followed to keep everyone safe.

"Basically the same rules apply in terms of the number of attendees, social distancing, making sure that your hand sanitizing and keeping your hands clean at all times, those are the main ones," she says.

Host farms will receive supports, including hand sanitizers, insurance, access to a culinary coach, and other resources to make hosting easier.

Organizers are also working on an online booking system to manage the number of people coming to their farms.

"For example some farms would have up to 900 attendees over a weekend, that's not possible this year, so we're working on a schedule system so people can schedule to come see a farm so that we're able to keep the numbers of people attending farms down this year," Doherty says.

She says most of the farms that have taken part in the past have expressed an interest in doing so again, but with the health guidelines that are in place they're being asked to be a little more creative.

Things like wagon rides and checking bee hives in a beekeepers suit won't be available to visitors this year.

The deadline to register for Open Farm Days is June 30.
