Alberta's Ombudsman is headed to High River June 23rd at the library.

Peter Hourihan says his office wants Albertans to understand how the office works and what they can and can't do for them.

"If somebody feels they've been mistreated or treated unfairly by the provincial government, and once they've exhausted all avenues of review ort appeal within the internal system that they're concerned with then they can come to us and we'll have a look at it to see if they were or were not treated unfairly," Hourihan says. "Somebody can come in, or they can make an appointment and speak with an investigator about a specific concern or a complain that they might have, it gives folks the opportunity to see our investigators face to face rather than calling in to Calgary or Edmonton."

He says that includes pretty much every government service from the Disaster Recovery Program to Alberta Health Services.

Hourihan says while the main reason for the trip is just to get out of the office and so people can learn how the Ombudsman's office works, High River did experience a disastrous flood in 2013 and there have been concerns expressed about the flood recovery program and he says they're prepared for those questions.

He says he'll put on a public short presentation in Studio B at the High River Library starting at 10 a.m. which he'll gear to the audience and its needs and he'll take on questions of a generic nature about the offices.

Investigator appointments are available between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
