A distracted driving operation ended up being quite productive for Okotoks municipal enforcement.

On Tuesday, June 7, local peace officers conducted an operation looking to identify drivers using their cellphones while operating their vehicles.

Over the course of 90 minutes, 14 tickets were issued, along with a handful of warnings for missing or expired documents.

In a release from the town, municipal enforcement included a reminder that simply holding a cell phone while driving can result in a distracted driving ticket.

Distracted driving could land drivers with a $300 fine as well as three demerit points.
