The Town of Okotoks is asking for public input on whether or not large shipping containers should be allowed to be used as storage units.

There's a new survey on the town's website running now until September 7th to ask residents where the containers should be allowed to be used, and what kind of finish should be used on them. Several containers are being used in industrial areas already, but inquiries about commercial use has prompted this request for the public's opinion.

Town Development Officer Colleen Thome says "it's a very short questionnaire, we're asking for largely multiple choice, but we are also asking for comments where people can make suggestions."

Thome says she encourages residents to take the short survey because they want as much feedback as possible on where the units should go, and what sort of appearance the units should have.

The survey is available at okotoks.ca. The results will then be presented to council on September 24th.
