Plans are being made to make this Remembrance Day special for the local community.

Rick Oncescu, the Remembrance Day chairperson with the Okotoks Legion Branch #291, says they will be having a hybrid ceremony.

"This year we're holding our service virtual again like we did last year. We will be conducting the service at RPAC."

Only a small amount of people will be attending in person.

"It will be limited to 50 people in attendance unfortunately because of the COVID restrictions. And therefore, we are at this moment soliciting veterans and legion members to occupy those seats."

He says proof of vaccination and masking requirements will also be in place.

The ceremony is expected to start by 10:15 a.m. according to the Facebook event page.

The livestream will be on the Legion's Facebook page under events, and a link will also be provided on their website on the day of the event.

With the start of the Legion's poppy campaign last Friday, there was a poppy-pinning ceremony at the Okotoks council chambers on Monday, Nov. 1.
