Okotoks residents were hitting the ice, shooting some hoops and taking to the courts to take part in the 6th annual RBC Sports Day in Canada.

The Rec Centre and Crescent Point Regional Field House hosted tonnes of free activiities throughout the day, to get the community moving and grooving.

Activities in celebration of National Sports Day included: floor hockey, zumba, badminton, family skating, and of course all the "ball" sports such as basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, and pickleball.

The idea behind this event was to build the community and bring it together through the power of sports. That is exactly what it did here in Okotoks, bringing kids and adults of all ages together to share in the excitement of their favorite sport, while also getting the chance to try out some new ones.

2015 was the "Year of Sport" across Canada, and with the end to another year quickly approaching, National Sport Day was a great way to send off a great, sporty year.

But, don't forget that this community is filled with great facilities to keep sports alive any year, and all year long!
