A great finish to the season for Okotoks chuckwagon driver, Dayton Sutherland.

In just his second year on the tour the 20 year old snagged his first big win, capturing the "Battle of the Rockies" in Rocky Mountain House Sunday, August 19.

Sutherland says it's a great feeling.

"I'm happy I won the show and it was awesome to do it with Casey and Rory (Outriders, Knight and Gervais), two buddies of mine. You know with the horses we've been sticking with all year. You know it finally pays off and feels good to get the buckle."

Kurt Bensmiller won the World Chuckwagon Championship for the third time, edging out Vern Nolin for the crown.

Overall, High River's Jason Glass finished second in Sunday's final heat, and winds up fifth in the world standings.

High River's Jordie Fike finishes the year in 13th, while Okotoks Mark Sutherland winds up 16th.
