The Okotoks Dawgs released their 2021 WCBL schedule on Monday afternoon, giving fans a preview on what will hopefully be a return to the norm next year.

If all goes to plan, the Dawgs will play their home opener on the weekend of May 28th against the Brooks Bombers and Sylvan Lake Gulls, with their Father's Day and Canada Day series' to follow in the subsequent months.

They're also set to host the 2021 WCBL All-Star game on July 24th.

General Manager Tyler Hollick says it's a breath of fresh air following a year of restrictions and cancellations.

"For everybody involved in the program and the community it's an exciting time in general, but with what's gone on in the past year or so, we've had a full summer off, so I think it's just that much more exciting. We're amped about it for sure."

Hollick says the Dawgs are also excited to premiere their new Core 4 (+14) Corner.

"Anybody that's looking for a primo seat or just to catch a baseball in maybe one of the best spots in Canada is gonna want to check out Core 4. It's beautiful, what our Managing Director John Ircandia did, and his vision for it. It's unbelievable. We're really excited to show the fans that, and I think they'll be just as excited to take in a ballgame there."

Of course, it's impossible to say what the status of the pandemic will be, come May of next year, and while they'll be keeping safety as their top concern, Hollick says the Dawgs are remaining optimistic for now.

"We'll continue to stay fluid with it, but I think there is some growing optimism that there will be a substantial WCBL season this year, and hopefully we can defend our title again in 2021."
